How does the horsefly trap work?
The horsefly trap catches horseflies by deceiving the female horseflies. The black ball is warmed by the sun and moves slightly back and forth in the wind.
The horsefly is attracted by this moving heat source, because the horsefly "thinks" it is prey.
It lands on the ball, bites, and then flies up disappointedly (towards the light). It then ends up in the collection reservoir via the funnel.
